MARCH 27, 2024
What a terrific concert “Romantic Echoes” was! Enjoy the break until April 8 and happy holiday weekend.
I. MARCH 23 CONCERT FEEDBACK
(i) Note from our Music Director, Andrew Chung
"What a glorious concert! Please accept my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the concert. Tetsuya was a rock star! Like the Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, our performance last Saturday has achieved a major milestone in our development as a community orchestra. Please enjoy your well deserved break and I look forward to working with you for our season finale.”
(ii) Note from the Chair of the Board
Being both a musician and the CCO Chair, I have a unique perspective on pretty well all aspects of our concerts. And I was thrilled by all of them this past Saturday!
Many thanks to Andrew for choosing a fantastic, popular programme - never enough Beethoven! - and for challenging us at each rehearsal to ensure the CCO was at its very best by the date of the concert. Subsequently, we have received lots of audience feedback about sounding great, and about how we improve with each concert - hopefully two sentiments all the CCO musicians share.
Tetsuya made us proud - the enthusiastic applause he received was hard-earned and well deserved. His happy, happy smile at the end was so contagious! It felt good to be part of Tetsuya’s goal of revitalizing an almost forgotten flute concerto.
It takes quite a few people to make a concert evening a success. Thank you to all the cookie donors in our group - having a cookie thank you gift from the musicians to the audience sets a nice tone for the evening. Plus the CCO earned $159 in our donation jars. Following December’s concert, the Board decided we needed a volunteer Stage Manager, as the CCO had had in the past. We appointed Rowan Sanan. Rowan did an excellent job of ensuring everyone involved knew what they were doing, when, and we are very pleased he liked the job well enough to be with us again in June. Finally, a special shout out to our three trombonists. Jeff, Tyson and Kenneth. Although not required by the programme, they all participated as concert volunteers, and Jeff and Tyson as Door Volunteers leading up to the concert. as well. Thank you to all the members and the concert volunteers who worked on our event.

IV. OTHER MUSIC FROM CCO MEMBERS
Rehearsal time at The 519 is tight, and we keep the verbal announcements at intermission to a minimum. However, it’s nice to hear about the gigs in which our colleagues are performing.
If you personally are performing in a concert or gig you would like others to know about, you can:
(i) post it in the Musicians’ Only section of the CCO website;(ii) put the poster or a note on the table at the door at the rehearsals; (iii) send me a short note and I’ll post the details in this spot in the CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS.
