DECEMBER 3, 2023 Concert week! Yippee! ! Two small ensembles promoted our holiday concert among the carpets and Christmas ornaments at Kendall & Co Designs on Parliament Street on Saturday afternoon. A few photos are below, and more will become available on the CCO website. Plus there’s a video clip on the store’s website. 1. THIS WEEK’S REHEARSALS Monday December 4 - 7:30 to 9:30pm. at The 519. Friday December 8 - 7:00 to 10:00pm Dress Rehearsal. East End United, 310 Danforth Avenue (1 west of Chester subway station). Use the side door on Jackman. Please do not attend the rehearsal if you are unwell, and wear a mask if you so chose. If you have recently had cold, flu, or COVID, please wear a mask to protect others. The Door Volunteers have masks available.
2. DECEMBER 9 HOLIDAY CONCERT An Enchanted Queer Holiday Soiree: Saturday Dec. 9. Start time 7:30pm. Musicians please arrive at 6:30. Use the Jackman side door - Green Room is downstair on the right hand side of the Sanctuary as you enter, half way down the length of the Church. Volunteers will be on hand to collect your donated cookies. E-Tickets: Tickets can be purchased on-line at https://www.ccorchestra.org/tickets. They will also be available at a ticket desk the night of the concert. Posters: Not too late to post or hand deliver posters. Please colour print the one attached, if you can, or pick some up at rehearsal. The posters do not have ticket prices on them - just add “$20 for adults, $12 for students” in magic marker to each poster. Member Ticket Sales: Please report to Helen Li about your ticket sales, and pay her for the two you have sold. You can contact Helen by email at helen.ling.li@gmail.com or see her at the rehearsal. If your friends and family purchased electronic tickets, or you took more than you need, they can be returned to Helen. Our new concert hall holds 600 audience members - please keep inviting those friends and family! Further, if if you know a business owner or well connected person who you think could become a CCO supporter or donor in future, please email emtichell1727@gmail.com or speak to any Director at the rehearsal about inviting that person for free. Fundraising Activities at the Dec. 9 Concert: (i) 50/50 Raffle: Before the concert starts and at intermission there will be a 50/50 raffle, run by Trish Tervit. Tickets are $5 for one, $10 for 3, and $25 for an “arm’s length”. The prize is 50% of the total of all the tickets sold, with the other 50% going directly to the CCO’s operating expenses. The winning ticket will be drawn and announced by our MC, Enza Anderson, at the very end of the concert. Only persons still in the concert hall at the end can claim the prize. (ii) Photos with Fay Slift: Fay is performing in the first part of our programme. She will then be available for photos, in front of a festive photo backdrop during the intermission and again, briefly, at the end of the concert. Selfies are $10, and no printed copy is made. More formal photos, by our volunteer photographers, Ben and Lilly, are $20.00, with a print for pickup at the concert. A second Drag Artist/Gender Performer is joining us: Qaptain (they/them). Captain will be helping with the 50/50 raffle, and will be available for paid photographs at the intermission and possibly after the concert. (iii) Intermission Refreshments: Please bring holiday cookies, home-made or purchased. They will be offered, along with bottles of water, at intermission, and possibly at the end of the concert. The Church does not want either food or drink in the sanctuary - the foyer at the Danforth end of the Church where we are serving this will be crowded. There will be donation jars on the cookie table, although historically those jars are largely ignored. (iv) CD’s for Sale: Holly Price has generously agreed to make some CD’s of previous CCO concerts. These will be available at the Donation Desk at the concert for $10.00 each. Holly and Andrew Lam are volunteering at the Donation Table. Please tell your friends and family to bring cash, take a photo with one of our Drag Performers, and bring extra cash! The photo initiative is new; we are curious to see if it is successful enough to be worth repeating, perhaps as an event at the 40th Anniversary celebration. The Fundraising Committee is working on making credit or other electronic payment possible, but no guarantees. Come with extra cash to loan your friends and family so that they can participate in these fundraising activities. Ron Mitchell is making a reservation at Blake House for a post-concert drink and/or snack. If you are interested in attending, please let Ron know at Monday’s rehearsal. 3.
