CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS MARCH 17 23

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY everyone!

1. REHEARSAL MARCH 20, St. Barnabas

Only two rehearsals remain before our March 25 concert. We will be rehearsing Schumann’s Spring Symphony at 8:00 Monday, and A Stone’s Throw at 9:00. The IMSLP logo for the Spring Symphony is on the CCO website; copies of A Stone’s Throw are available from our librarian, Bob Mitchell at robertmitchell@rogers.com.

2. MARCH 25 CONCERT STUFF

List of Musicians March 20:  be sure to check the list of musicians at the rehearsal on March 20 to ensure your name is on it, and properly spelled. Helen Li will be circulating the list. The programme is going to the printers’ on Tuesday - this is the last chance to ensure the list of musicians is complete and correct. Principals please ensure everyone in your section is included, including our guest musicians.

Dress Rehearsal March 24, 7:00pm: at the Church of St. Peter and St. Simon the Apostle 525 Bloor Street East. The CCO’s rental contract starts earlier for set-up, so please arrive early.

Concert March 25, 7:30pm - at St. Peter and St. Simon Church. Musicians should arrive by 6:30pm. We have a green room on the main floor of the Church.

Tickets - ticket sales are a bit slow, although the March concert usually has smaller attendance than our Christmas one does. Please keep selling to friends and family. Remember the tickets are missing the time of the performance. Write it on the tickets you sell, or direct everyone to our website for tickets: CCOrchestra.org.

More Tickets and Ticket Money - please see Helen Li at the rehearsal for more tickets to sell,  and to turn in your ticket money.

Ticket Sales and Pick Up at the Concert - tickets may be purchased the night of the concert at the ticket desk. If you would like to leave tickets for pick up, please put them in an envelope, clearly marked with your name and the name of your guest(s) and leave them at the desk.

Posters - not too late to post everywhere. Available from the Door Volunteer at the Rehearsal.

Musicians’ Dress Code: as with the last concert, you can wear black and white, or all black. Masks must be worn if not playing a wind or brass instrument. Rainbow masks are preferred and will be available.

Group Photo in front of St. Barnabas’ Digital Sign: last Monday’s group photo is fun. Available on our website and as an attachment below.

3. PLAYING IN THE PARK ZOOM CALL, MONDAY MARCH 27, 8:00PM

Should the CCO continue with the PlP series of outdoor concerts on summer Sunday afternoons? What changes/improvements/additions would you like? Should we continue to feature small ensembles connected to a CCO musician, or even expand that feature? Have your say at the Zoom meeting being hosted by Vice Chair and Programme Committee Chair, Daniel Payne, 8:00pm Monday March 27. (No rehearsal that night.) Zoom invitation:

REMINDER: REHEARSAL START TIME CHANGES TO 7:30PM ON APRIL 3, 20235. THE CCO’S 40th ANNIVERSARY - PLEASE GET INVOLVEDThe CCO is marking its 40th anniversary in 2024, and we are planning a celebratory concert in June. The expectation is that it will be truly celebratory - crowd-pleasing, happy music for sure, but maybe also a larger, showier venue, some special events, more community outreach, larger audience, invitations to former members, commissioned piece, bigger budget, etc. This will take planning, and likely extra funding. Director David Brownstone will be heading up the Committee, and is looking for a Co-Chair and other volunteers. He is planning a Zoom call in April to solicit ideas from the members. If you know now that you want to join the Anniversary Celebration Committee, please email emitchell1727@gmail.com. Non-playing members and friends of members are very welcome on this committee. After our upcoming concert, we will circulate the Zoom invitation, finalize a Committee and brainstorm ideas to be further researched. 5.
