(iii) Rehearsal at Eastminster: February 23

Please note that the Monday night rehearsal on February 23 will be held at our concert venue, Eastminster Church 310 Danforth. We have the sanctuary from 7:30 to 9:30, with a grace period starting shortly after 7:00 to allow us to set up.

II. NUIT ROSE FESTIVAL JUNE 18-21

Thank you to all the musicians who signed up to perform at the Nuit Rose Festival sometime between June 18-21, the final weekend of Pride. A sufficient number committed so that the Board could decide that the CCO will apply to perform an orchestra concert.

The application deadline is January 31. We will be applying to provide a 45 minute concert, ideally at the 519, and will suggest we perform the same programme twice as festival attendees wander in and out of the various displays and performances on offer. Our programme needs to be connected to the Festival’s theme of “rewilding” the Church-Wellesley area, but that term is defined widely. We fit in to its encouragement of projects that support Queer histories, and public participation, and fit under “remembering” and “recalling”; we expect to provide some visual interest by mounting our 40th Anniversary Banner Project on concert day, showing the CCO video created in 2024, and displaying a few items of memorabilia gathered over 42 years of performances. We will welcome audience participation by programming a singalong.

The organizers will decide the applications in April. If accepted, we will learn about venue, time(s) and date(s). If the CCO’s application is accepted, we’ll circulate the details and straightforward music.

If you have ideas about this festival that you would like to share, please email ccoannouncements@gmal.com.

III. INVITATION TO A GIG

Concertmaster Gemma Donn is currently rehearsing for a new play, “The Last Five Years”, scheduled for a week long run, January 20 to 25, at the Terminal Theatre, Queen’s Quay, Toronto. This is written by Stefi D, previously a Dora award nominee for “Come from Away”,and others. Gemma thinks it will be great and has negotiated access to a ticket discount for us.
