II. NUIT ROSE FESTIVAL JUNE 18-21
The CCO has received an invitation to apply to participate in the re-launching of Nuit Rose. The CCO performed at this festival several times before the pandemic. The festival itself has been suspended for the last six years. Its organizers’ description of the festival is: “Nuit Rose, The Festival of Queer Art and Performance returns to Toronto in June 2026 - ready to REWILD the Church-Wellesley Village with art installations, live performances, community activations, and parties” Their definition of “rewild” includes “… remember, remind… reunite, recall ….”. As a queer organization in the Village for 42 years, the CCO is certainly keen to apply and hopefully participate!
We have a short timeline. The application deadline is January 15. Successful applicants will be advised in April, and the festival activities will be held the weekend of June 18-21.
We are hoping to file an application by the deadline, but urgently need to determine what kind of performance the CCO can present. Sign-up sheets were available at the January 5 rehearsal and will be again on January 12. If you have not already signed up, can you commit to performing sometime on the weekend of June 18-21? There are lots of uncertainties. You may be part of an orchestra, you may perform with your established small ensemble, or you may become involved in a newly-created small ensemble. If you won’t be at rehearsal to sign up, but want to commit, please email ccoannouncements@gmail.com.
