II. MUSIC FOR THE JUNE 15 ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
The CCO website, Musicians’ Forum, has most of the sheet music for our next concert, or you can click the links below:
https://www.ccorchestra.org/sheet-music (Please login before accessing)
Benjamin Britten: Matinées musicales
Leonard Bernstein: Candide Overture
Ethel Smyth: Two Interlinked French Folk Songs
For the following works, our librarian, Bob Mitchell, will hand out physical copies at the April 8 rehearsal
Aaron Copland: The Tender Land
Samuel Barber: Violin Concerto.
Be forewarned that the Tender Land music will have to be signed for, and returned to Bob at the end of the June 15 concert. There is a financial penalty if the CCO does not return it as we have agreed to do.
Conductor Andrew Chung will focus on the Bernstein, Barber and Copland works for the first few rehearsals.
III. SOME ANNIVERSARY INITIATIVES
Concert Shirts:t the Board approved the purchase of black polo shirts for the concert. $20 to musicians. You can see the prototype photo at the rehearsal on April 15 and let us know your size. Great new logo!
Special Welcome for Former Musicians: volunteers have been gathering names of musicians who performed with the CCO over the last 40 years. We want to invite as many as possible to ensure they know they are part of the CCO history. Please spread the concert detail to former musicians you know.
Summer Planning: This summer, the Playing in the Park concert series will likely be replaced with performances by “Friends of the CCO”, i.e, musicians who have their own small ensembles, or want to form one. The Board will act as co-ordinator between the small ensembles and the host groups, such as Friends of Allan Gardens. TMU, which hosted the Sounds Like a Park festival that the CCO was featured in last year did not get funding and will not be holding the festival again. In May we will discuss the CCO’s summer planning again. after you’ve had some time to think about your group’s wishes.

OTHER MUSIC FROM CCO MEMBERS
Rehearsal time at The 519 is tight, and we keep the verbal announcements at intermission to a minimum. However, it’s nice to hear about the gigs in which our colleagues are performing.
If you personally are performing in a concert or gig you would like others to know about, you can:
(i) post it in the Musicians’ Only section of the CCO website;(ii) put the poster or a note on the table at the door at the rehearsals; (iii) send me a short note and I’ll post the details in this spot in the CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS.
