CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS MARCH 19

MARCH 19, 2025

Quick notes, confirming details you likely already know about the upcoming concert weekend, involving a Dress Rehearsal this Friday, and a concert on Saturday:

1. CONCERT POSTER - attached.

Not too late to circulate or print and post.

2. TICKETS

$20 for adults, $12 for those under 18. Available on line at ccoorchestra.org  in the Concert portal, and available at the ticket desk on Saturday night, opening at 6:30.

Thank you to all the members who purchased their two required tickets last rehearsal. Helen Li reports most members have now bought their tickets. And thanks to Helen for once again keeping track.

3. COOKIES REQUIRED FOR INTERMISSION REFRESHMENTS

We are fortunate to once again have the support of Whiskful Thinking Bakery with a donation to the cookie table. However, that one donor is not enough, and our audience likes the fact that the musicians give them a gift of refreshments in exchange for their attendance. We place donation jars on the cookie tables and the CCO benefits.

You can bring your cookies to the Dress Rehearsal, and leave them in the back lobby in the Sanctuary, or bring them concert night and give them to a volunteer. The CCO also offers bottled water at the concert.

Please help with the take-down immediately after the concert. All the CCO concert stuff has to be packed and stored on the third floor of Eastiminster Church, and we have to leave the venue promptly under our rental contract.

3. TIMES & DATES & OTHER PARTICULARS

The Dress Rehearsal and the Concert are in the same venue: the Sanctuary at Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue. The Main Entrance is on the east side, on Jackman Avenue.

DRESS REHEARSAL - Friday, March 21, starting at  7:00pm. and running until 10:00pm.

Musician volunteers will start the set up about 5:30pm. If you can come a few minutes early, extra hands are welcome.

We have not rented a Green Room on Friday night - you can leave your stuff in the pews in the Sanctuary.

Snacks: winds, brass and piano.

CONCERT - Saturday, March 22, 7:30pm.

Doors open for the CCO at 6:00. Please report by no later than 6:30.

Green Room - downstairs. The door to the staircase is along the side wall of the Sanctuary.

Concert Dress - all black, or black pants or skirt with a white shirt or blouse, optional black jacket. In these strange political times, a small Canadian flag lapel pin would be a welcome addition - a few will be available at the Dress but please bring your own if you can find one (they are scarce right now!).

Temporary Concertmaster:  We have a temporary concertmaster, Elena Spano, as Gemma has an opportunity with the Hamilton Philharmonic. Many thanks to Elena for taking us on, and contributing so well to the last few rehearsals.

Change in Emcee: Unfortunately, our long-time emcee, Enza Andersson, has had to cancel for urgent family matters, but promises to attend in June. David Brownstone and the Chair will act as replacement hosts.

50/50 Draw: please remember to ask your friends and family to bring cash for the 50/50 draw. $5 for one ticket, $10 for 3, and $20 for “an arm’s length”. Obviously, the arm’s length is the best deal!

4. NEXT REHEARSAL - MARCH 31

There is no rehearsal on Monday March 24. The CCO will start up again at The 519, 7:30pm, on March 31. Bring your music as indicated in the Musicians Only portal on our website. Snacks: first violins.
