Writer's picture: Tetsuya KTetsuya K

MARCH 29, 2023 More concert stuff, miscellaneous issues, and the music for Monday’s rehearsal. 1. MARCH 25 CONCERT - A MESSAGE FROM OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR Dear members, Thank you so much for a wonderful concert. The energy level was off the chart. I have received many compliments from the audience about the progress we have made and their experiences with us last Saturday. It was great to see David Beattie and Jimmy Amaro in the audience, it’s like a family reunion. Betsy Raum, the composer of the trumpet concerto also came and she was pleased that it is us to premiere her new work. Enjoy your well-deserved break and I look forward to seeing you next Monday.

Regards, Andrew

2. CONCERT RECORDING & PHOTOS Our Webmaster, Tetsuya Kobayashi, sent the following message to everyone: The recordings are ready! * Recordings and Photos of the March 2023 Concert are Available Individual Links * Recordings of the Concert * Photos from the Concert Members can upload photos from the concert to share with everyone. 3. REHEARSAL MONDAY APRIL 3, 7:30 PM Rehearsals resume on April 3, beginning at 7:30 pm, at St. Barnabas, 361 Bloor East, near the Chester subway station. Conductor Andrew Chung wants to run through the two pieces scheduled for our June 10 concert: (i) Symphony No. 9, Op. 95, Dvorak, Antonin. Here is the IMSLP line: https://imslp.org/wiki/Symphony_No.9%2C_Op.95_(Dvo%C5%99%C3%A1k%2C_Anton%C3%ADn) (ii) the World Premier of a piece the CCO commissioned by Elizabeth Raum, a trumpet concerto, Kupala Night. The individual parts of Kupala Night are available on the CCO website, Musicians Only portal. If you have not already done so, please start using that portal - if you have forgotten how, go to the Musicians Only title on the website, CCOrchestra.org, and follow the prompts. CCO Librarian Bob Mitchell will not bring individual parts to the rehearsals unless you specifically contact him with a request that he do so for you and your instrument. Contact Bob at robertmitchell@rogers.com. 4. THE CCO’S 40th ANNIVERSARY - PLEASE GET INVOLVED The CCO is marking its 40th anniversary in 2024, and we are planning a celebratory concert in June. The expectation is that it will be truly celebratory - crowd-pleasing, happy music for sure, but maybe also a larger, showier venue, some special events, more community outreach, larger audience, invitations to former members, commissioned pieces, bigger budgets, etc. Director David Brownstone will be heading up the Committee and is looking for help. He is planning a Zoom call in April to solicit ideas from the members. If you want to join the Anniversary Celebration Committee, please email emitchell1727@gmail.com. Non-playing members and friends of members are very welcome on this committee. The Zoom call details will be circulated in the next Announcement4. 5.
