CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS Jan. 12 2023

January 12, 2023

1. REHEARSAL JANUARY 16, 2023

At our March 25 concert, we will be playing “A Stone’s Throw” by Dustin Peters, and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in B flat Major. On January 16, our Music Director expects to run through the entirety of the Schumann symphony.

The Schumann link is posted in the Musicians’ Only portal of the CCO website and here it is again: https://imslp.org/wiki/Symphony_No.1%2C_Op.38_(Schumann%2C_Robert) If for any reason, you cannot bring your own copy of the symphony, please let our Librarian, Bob Mitchell, know as soon as possible at robertmitchell@rogers.com. Unlike in previous years, Bob does not bring copies of all the parts to every rehearsal. Musicians are expected to bring their own, although Bob has agreed to bring parts when requested.

Librarian Bob Mitchell will provide the music for everyone for “A Stone’s Throw” at rehearsals. These parts will need to be returned after the concert and you will be asked to sign for your copy.

For background on this composer you can visit the website www.dpeterscomposer.com.

To see and hear a recording of the piece by the Atlanta Philharmonic you can search on YouTube for Dustin Peters A Stone’s Throw.

Rehearsals are held at St. Barnabas on the Danforth Anglican Church, 361 Danforth Avenue, steps from the Chester subway station. 2. BOARD MEETING THURSDAY JANUARY 26, 7:30PM, Zoom Invitation All members of the CCO are entitled under the By-Laws to attend regular meetings of the Board of Directors, that are not in camera. 3. NEW MEMBERS

We are delighted to be welcoming some new members. If you know someone who would like to join, please ask them to email emitchell1727@gmail.com and their request will be forwarded to our Concertmaster Gemma Donn. Both playing and non-playing members can join the CCO. Potential new playing members can attend two trial rehearsals before being expected to join and pay fees.

Anyone attending a CCO rehearsal must show proof of 3 vaccinations to the Door Volunteer, and sign a COVID Risk Acknowledgment. To become a member of the CCO, or to renew a CCO membership, the Door Volunteer also has the necessary Membership Application Form and the Media Consent Form. The Door Volunteer can accept fees by cheque or cash. The forms and payment of fees can also be done electronically. Membership fees are considered a donation and a tax receipt will be issued in early 2024. Membership fees for the balance of the year are $75, $40 for students; if fee payment causes a particular hardship, an appeal can be made to the Board for a reduction or waiver.

All musicians are expected to bring their own music stands, and masks must be worn inside the Church at all times unless actually playing a wind or brass instrument.
