CCO Announcements July 15, 2022

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

This announcement discusses; PIP and CCO’S IMPORTANT DATES

1. PLAYING IN THE PARK

CCO’s Playing in the Park season started off strongly last Sunday. The audience enjoyed the orchestra’s performance of Eine Kleine Nacht music, and cello duets by Daniel and Robert. Playing in the Park will continue Sunday afternoons until August 14, and is open to all instruments. This free community event gives us an opportunity to enhance CCO’s reputation, attract new audiences and new musicians, and enjoy performing outside for the benefit of passersby, friends and family.

You can find photos of last week’s concert in the Musicians section of the CCO website, ccorchestra.org,

When: Every Sunday to August 14, inclusive, 2:00 to 4:00, weather permitting

Where: Allan Gardens Park, in the shade near the playground, south of Jarvis and Carlton

Format: Rehearsal from 2:00 to 3:00; informal concerts 3:00 to 4:00, featuring soloists or small ensembles of CCO musicians

Come whichever Sundays you can, but please complete the Sign-up Form, including your instrument, so that appropriate music is chosen for that afternoon.

Music: Use this Google spreadsheet to find the music being performed each week. The list includes links to online sheet music from IMSLP. Please print out the music for your instrument and bring it to the performance. Selecting music over the summer will be an ongoing process, so bookmark the page to keep up-to-date with pieces as they are added. This week, we will be playing Vivaldi’s Spring, and will begin rehearsing Mozart’s Quintet for clarinet and strings for later performance.

Featured Performers:

July 24 - Helen Li, Mozart’s Quintet for clarinet and strings; Gemma Donn Prokofiev violin concerto

August 14 – Andrew Chung trumpet concerto, Gemma Donn and Chris Yoshida violin duets. There will be snacks and drinks after this concert to complete the season.

If you want to play as a Featured Performer, either as a soloist or with others, please use the Sign Up Form or contact any of the Programme Committee (Daniel, Andrew Chung, Helen, Chris, Liz).

Musicians need to bring:

· Music stand (no sharing)

· Sunscreen and a hat

· Optional mask

· Clips to hold down music in a wind

· A printed copy of your music if possible

Vaccination Policy: the CCO’s Vaccination Policy has been relaxed for these outdoor events. Please self monitor and do not attend if you have symptoms, tested positive or were recently in close contact with a person who has tested positive. We will not be checking vaccination status, nor keeping attendance for contract tracing purposes. You do need your own music stand as sharing is not permitted. Masks are not mandatory, but are strongly encouraged. Physical distancing of one meter; hand sanitizer and masks will be available at the Park.
