Wishing you a fun long weekend, with good weather, and Sunday afternoon music in the Park. Today’s Announcements are limited to the Playing in the Park initiative

 

PLAYING IN THE PARK If you find yourself in the City on Sunday, please come to Allan Gardens. This week the featured performer is the orchestra itself. When: Sundays until August 14, inclusive, weather permitting. Rehearsal 2:00 to 3:00; Concert 3:00 to 4:00 Where: Allan Gardens, south of Jarvis and Carlton, in the shade near the children’s playground Sign-Up Form: https://forms.gle/Fy7i3nQ97XfAKPHH6 - needed to ensure appropriate music is chosen for the week. Please complete and note your instrument. Music: Use this Google spreadsheet to find the music and the link to IMSLP. Please print your part. This week, it’s Corelli’s Concerto Grossi in D Major, Opus 6, No. 1. Violinists there are two parts: the principal will play the concertato part; all others will play the ripieno part. Each week, a soloist or ensemble is featured during the concert. If you are interested, please use the Sign-Up Form https://forms.gle/Fy7i3nQ97XfAKPHH6. On August 7, Rick Fraser and his Baroque group are performing selections by Telemann: On August 14, Andrew Chung will be featured in a trumpet concerto, and Gemma and Chris in violin duets. Picnic August 14: immediately following the final park performance, there will be a casual picnic for CCO members and friends. Please come and hear your colleagues or, better still, bring your instrument and join in, even if it’s your first outdoor concert. Musicians need to bring: a music stand (no sharing), music, sunscreen and a hat, a mask (optional), and wind clips. Weather Cancellation: if the performance needs to be canceled because of weather, an email will be broadcast using this Announcements email list at 11:00 am Sunday morning. Please check your email before leaving for the Park if the weather is uncertain. COVID Precautions: Please do not attend if you are unwell, have tested positive recently, or were recently in close contact with a person who has tested positive. Please bring your own music and music. Masks are optional but recommended. Physical distancing is expected. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available at the Park.
